Nokia Handsfree Mod Boredom, what a wonderful source of inspiration :) Yet again i had too much time until my eyes caught Nokia pop-port handsfree headset
and my new Sony MDR-N99 buds. I have been thinking for a while how to improve sound quality of that headset and now I figured that those Sony buds can be dismantled quite easily. I levered the back of the bud out with a knife as carefully as possible. After few snaps the back popped out nicely ![]() Then i took them to pieces and removed the pull-protecting clamps (i had already cut the wires) ![]() After disassembly of Sony buds I proceeded to nokia's own buds which are horrid to wear and sound very poor. First i marked them with tape to make sure the new buds get right ![]() A little working with knife and that's it, they are open ![]() With little help from my soldering iron I removed the original speakers, untied the knots and stringed the covers of new buds into their places. ![]() Little soldering: old wire is off, and new one is in place. Once the soldering was complete, i tried them on my phone and yes, they worked perfectly :) ![]() Putting back pull-protection clamps and securing solderings with some hot glue. ![]() After everything else was complete, i applied some hot glue and squeezed both buds back together. After glue had cooled i placed the soft cover back on. ![]() And here i have my new handsfree headset ![]() First impression: At last a headset which fits my ears :) Then some music: WOW !! I was totally astonished that a phone could sound so sweet ! The sound is absolutely awesome compared to those crappy old buds. Now i really can hear the low frequencies of bass with my mobile phone :) Remove this ad by registering or by logging in. Login with your Facebook account to comment:
