Simple and easy modification. I soldered longer wires from the coil and put it inside a tube which then was glued to the casing with epoxy glue. The coil inside the tube is attached with hot glue which waterproofs it.

This is essential tool for metal detecting. First you search an area with metal detector, and when the correct spot is found you dig a hole and search it with a pinpointer.

Real pinpointers go anywhere from 60eur to almost 200eur. This one cost only 15eur, and it seems to work with adequate accuracy. Still need to field-test it.
