I have added MDF spoilboard and surfaced it with the router itself. Now I have a flat and perfectly aligned surface to clamp the workpieces onto. The spoilboard also clearly shows the maximum cutting area of the machine.

The box.
I made a wooden/plastic box to surround the router and keep all the dust in. Unfortunately the plastic I used for most of the surfaces is not transparent enought to see the monitor from inside the box. So I had to cut a hole and use Cellophane to make a window of sorts. Also had to buy wireless keyboard & mouse so I can operate the machine both from inside & outside with ease.

It gets very hot, dusty and sometimes even smoky inside.

All new Z-axis using suported linear rails and bearing blocks. All parts were cut with the router itself. This version is a huge improvement in rigidity over the last generation. I can now do some light engraving/V-carving 3-4 times faster and get similar results.

A plywood case made to house a standard (and ugly) metallic atx case.
Quite basic (but ugly) interior setup. PSU is located under that white plate that used to be part of the cover. That black box which also works as an extension cord for the PSU is "Current and Voltage sensor" that came with the Zalman fan controller so it can show the system's current power consumption.

Also the fake leather was sold in 1,5m wide pieces which wasn't enought to wrap the whole case around so the bottom part isn't completely covered. It's not like you can see it anyway. (And I didn't want to buy at least twice as much of the stuff than needed for this project)

The metallic frame can be removed from the "wooden shell" for hardware installation and isn't fastened in any way as it sits very tightly there and optical drives keep it in place anyway.
Quite basic (but ugl...

White clay figure, ~16cm tall
Made this Warhammer 40k Space Marine figure in two days - around 10 work hours total.

It is made of the same type of white clay that I used in the "mammoth hunt" model and stands about 16cm tall with the base included.

The helmet could be better but other than that I'm pretty pleased with the result. It does have somewhat less detail than the actual minifigures, but it has the handmade look! :)

Model is not yet burned so it has a gray appearance. It it will have much brighter white color once burned at 1000 degrees celcius.

PS: I actually have never seen any of those minifigures IRL, so I had to depend on reference pictures from the internet and I largely made it by my own vision of what those marines look like :)

Here you can clearly see the difference in color between different burning temperatures: Characters and the ground are made of the same material, only that The characters are burned at 800 degrees celsius and the ground at 1000 degrees celsius.

I could give the characters another go at 1000C if I had enought stuff ready to fill the school's oven :)

PS: Still have about 9kg of clay left, what should I do with it?

A big natural white clay school and freetime project. 15-20 hours of work, about 7-10kg of fresh clay and patience :)

The characters are about 5-7cm high, about hte size of warhammer figures. The woolly mammoth is about 20-25cm high when standing on terrain.

Making the men was very hard because soft clay is hard to make precise shapes and bit dryer gets very fragile. I had to make the basic shape and pose when it was still soft and then let it dry some time (next day) Then I carefully carved the final shape and made "fur texturing" to their clothes. Making heads and faces of that size was just too hard to do so I made them hooded jackets :)

The woolly mammoth and men are currently being burned/cooked whatever, the terrain is not yet completely dry so I must take it home and let it dry on holiday. And when school begins again next year burn it to it's final bright white appearance.

After the first burning I think I'm going to paint the mammoth and men brown of some sort, the snowy landscape will be just bright white, as it will be after burning.

Spears are also going to be painted and finished later.

Would have done a progress/worklog too if I had a digital camera, these photos are taken with my big brother's cam. Took the pictures now because there is allways a risk of cracking and other nasty destruction when being burned etc.

See and vote the other pictures too :)
