    After all the dozens of cases I've reviewed, this is what it's come to :D I've just had the worst black-case-overdose ever, and wanted something subtle, boring and BEIGE (..and obviously missing the front bezel and side panel in this shot, because a box standard case form the 90's wouldn't really be too entertaining to look at). It's a random case complete with a Celeron-sticker and Phenom X6 1100 + HD6950-rig. For a mod I swapped the original drive cages for this: http://allthemods.com/userinfo.php?userid=8&id=6409 I'm yet to decide if I'm going to actually put some effort into this or try to find a the kind of beige case that I'm actually looking for and save the mods for that.
    After all the dozens...    		 Got it built. (...or actually willek did) Yours truly as size reference and just to show off my new Umbro-sweatpants. And how does it sound, I hear you ask? Well... Use your imagination. It's pretty loud.
    Got it built. (...or...    		 New subwoofer project coming up :D For size comparison there's a very sturdy 6,5" bass driver on the left (similar to what you might find inside good PC-speaker subwoofers). Sometimes size DOES matter.

The original idea was to use some zip ties or velcro to keep the new adapter in place, but actually it's exactly the right size so I can still use the original battery cover to hold it in place :) Flawless victory! It took me forever to actually start building this thing, but in the end it was just an hour or two to build it. This will save me so much cash in batteries :)

    I then cut two pieces of 6 mm acryl to act as the frame, and a piece of PCB to house a couple of capacitors. The caps are there to even out the peaks caused by the flash charging its own capacitor.
    I then cut two piece...    		 Modified my flash to use a transformer instead of six AA-batteries. Here's how it originally works, a holder for the batteries and a separate hatch that keeps the holder in place. If I wanted to use rechargeable batteries it would take two chargers to charge them all simultaneously, and I just didn't want to go there... Also I had no other use for the cells, and spending all the money for batteries and chargers just to feed a freebie flash seemed like total waste of money.

Like some of you may or may not know, we already started abusing this Antec 902 case over at Assembly 2011, but now the party is over and I'm out of ideas. The stuff done so far: Flip the thing 90 degrees, so the rear is no floor and the front is the roof. Lift the motherboard tray and I/O-area 40 mm so there's room for cables. Cut a small window to the front/roof and flip the fans so the cooling makes sense. So not much done... Yet.     To balance the uglin...    		 It seems like the LED-lamp photos disappeared during the server change, so lets try again.. 4-led module mounted to an old GPU-cooler and aluminum block, 1 A driver and a Li-Poly battery. Next job will be to seal the thing somehow and make a mount for bicycle use.

    Something new. ...    		 Decided to build a new cabinet for the tools. Re-used parts from a shelf I got for free from a friend of mine. Still needs the hooks for the tools in the upper part and a door for the bottom part, but other than that it's done. It's ugly as sin, but so much better than the old one... I may paint it one day if I also get some paint for free :P
    Decided to build a n...    		 Build new "ambilight"-bars from leds. Two bars with eight leds each. I've also upgraded the original led lights and now they also have eight of the same leds each. So now overall there are 32 leds lighting the desk area. Not really enough to LIGHT anything, but it gives a nice effect in the dark. All of these are also hooked up to the DIY-dimmer (see project).

    Coming up ;) ...    		 I decided I need a new HDD-cage and got kinda carried away. 6 mm aluminum + 4 mm bitumen SHOULD be enough to prevent any vibrations... As for the mounting I've got two Antec silicone grommets on each corner. The cage alone weights about 350 grams and with all the four drives in place the total is over two kilograms (kitchen scale didn't show over 2000 g ;) )

    Started to build a rack for my amplifiers... The actual design has three layers, but as of now I only made one. Basically it's just something to make my desk less cluttered. It also has wheels for easier connecting of cables and cleaning.

This was the second mATX-setup solely built for case reviews and now as my sister needs anew rig, this will go to her.     SketchUp'd a bit and here's the result. Diameters are ~40x40x20 cm and it houses uATX mobo and normal ATX power supply. Also see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mta42KT9G6s Shows how important it is to use components - it's so much easier to see and modify the design when you make all the stuff components of their own.
    SketchUp'd a bit and...    		 A triac controller that I've been planning for ages and am finally building. So far it has four channels, but I'm gonna make a second PCB there to house further 4 channels. The triacs I'm using are rated at 9 amp RMS current, which means that I can control 8*9=72 amps continuous current. On 12 V lamps this means over 800 Watts and if I made the system to handle 230 Volts (which I'm not, because all the insulations would be very, very bad PITA to make properly) it could handle about 16 kW power.... That's the theory at least :D More to come.
    A triac controller t...    		 Some ghetto drill press-addons. I was drilling holes to PCB for a project and didn't want the dust to get all over the place, which explains the red bin under the drill. Sometimes it would be handy to have this bin filled with water (wet sanding/polishing), but that would need some further enhancements to the design so that the drill wouldn't rust. Another test here is the LED-light taped to the side. First I thought of using two line-lasers, but drilling reflective stuff (metal) would be rather unpleasant if there were laser beams bouncing to my eyes. The lamp made it easier to see where the marks are, so I think I'm gonna go a bit further with this idea and modify the lamp to work with transformer and have a power switch.
    Some ghetto drill pr...    		 The original mounting bracket of the cooler snapped, so I had to make a new one. Kinda made me dislike the AM2 and its four mounting holes... S939 would've been easier as it has only two holes.

    The simpliest fancontroller in the world... The pcb is about 3 x too large right now, but I guess I'll add some connectors there, so there'll be no extra space. Specs are: Max. power handling (like it would matter) ~100 W Adjustment for minimum voltage/fan speed (makes sure the fans don't stop at any setting) When I add the connectors, I'll propably also add a trimmer for the max. speed. Cost for this thing is about 2 € (around three billion dollars with the current exchange rate)

    Funky.    		 Another shot showing the internals of the server. It's a hevily underclocked Pentium 3-system with only one fan and some sound dampening stuff on the walls. Fast enough to run my irssi and keeps cool'n'quiet. Besides cooling the HDD, the heatsink also adds some weight to it and makes it more quiet. I tried to take a picture showing the clearance between the processor and the PSU fan, but it didn't work out too well. There's maybe one millimeter between those :)

I guess the rack had something to do with magnetic resonance imaging... 150 amperes should be more than enough for all the leds I ever wish to use!     Clean through the ba...    		 Here's my RC-runner made of two servomotors, a battery and a reciver and ofc Lego-wheels and some 1,5 mm aluminum sheet. It runs pretty fast at full charge and I've actually broken the fixings from both servos via driving it down from a table...

Logical eh? :) I tried to make things safe this time and keep every high-voltage part hidden. Current specs for the capacitors are 200V 4800uF but I'm gonna upgrade that up to atleast 10000uF ( About 50 to 100J of energy)
