06.10.2007 08:52 GSXI can't say for sure, but i have heard around my forums.
06.10.2007 00:30 HaoKiAre you sure that the ihs is epoxied on to the core... Because in the 100 series optys it was just epoxied on around the edges. Removin the IHS really ins't a hard thing to do.
05.10.2007 23:49 YoshiYou just have to sand it until you can see the core ;)
05.10.2007 23:43 GSXYea, I'm not to worried about it, but it's somthing to think about. Slick, the IHS is actually copper, not aluminum. I didn't remove it, as the Opties have them epoxied to the core(big no no)
05.10.2007 19:43 JipaGSX: Dunno about the warranty.. Usually CPUs don't get screwed and if they do, they go with style ;) I don't know if warranty works if your CPU has caught fire :D
05.10.2007 19:42 JipaYeah I know it's only the HS, but still.. I would (and do) NOT want to mess my CPU with metal particles and water :D
05.10.2007 19:37 slickDude Jipa, if you really had balls you'd expose the core itself. The part he lapped is only the aluminum heatspreader. Like the DTRs (754 mobile chips)
04.10.2007 20:09 YoshiAh, very nice mirror-like polish :) good job :)
04.10.2007 14:20 GSXKind of a crazy move as I think of it now. The cpu is abut a month old, and now the whole 3 year warranty got screwed. It's going to be so worth it those few dergrees tho :D
04.10.2007 13:32 JipaGood job :O Takes some balls to lap a proper CPU and you did awesome job with this one.
